'Clinical trials are an important part of SLHD’s commitment to a culture where research is embedded in clinical care'.
ClinTrial Refer began as a clinician-driven initiative to improve patient access to clinical trials. Professor Judith Trotman from Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) and Roslyn Ristuccia from South Eastern Sydney LHD (SESLHD) collaborated to develop a technological solution to boost patient recruitment in haematology trials.
Today, ClinTrial Refer is an award-winning, evidence-based platform used by clinicians, patients, and their supporters, to search and find suitable clinical trials. Clinical trials are an important part of SLHD’s commitment to a culture where research is embedded in clinical care. Improvements in patient outcomes, as a result of clinical trials, is thanks to the work and dedication of investigators, clinical trial staff, sponsors, clinical trial participants and members of the community supporting the process.
To expand access to clinical trials, SLHD now lists trials from Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Concord Hospital, spanning 32 departments and services from cardiology, drug health, gastroenterology, haematology, medical oncology, mental health, neurology, population health, respiratory medicine, surgical services and more.
SLHD has more than 797 active clinical trials at any point in time conducted in its state-of-the-art facilities and has established an international reputation for pioneering new treatments and interventions for the betterment of patient outcomes.
